Akaba Quality
At Akaba, we understand manufacturing as an essential part of our commitment to responsible design and continuous improvement. All our products are developed under the ecodesign criteria defined by ISO 14006, integrating environmental considerations from the earliest stages of product conception and development to the end of its life cycle.
This approach allows us to move towards more efficient, durable, and easily recoverable solutions, prioritizing materials and processes that help reduce the environmental impact associated with our industrial activity.
Furthermore, Akaba has a certified management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, ensuring both the quality of our processes and products as well as environmental management focused on prevention, control, and continuous improvement of our environmental performance.
The combination of design, industry, and sustainability is part of our way of understanding furniture: products designed to generate wellbeing in spaces, with responsible manufacturing aligned with current environmental challenges.
Materials
Wood
Wood and derivatives sourced from European suppliers and controlled sources. FSC and PEFC certifications available upon request depending on material type. Renewable, reusable, and recyclable materials depending on composition. High durability and suitable for material recovery at the end of their life cycle.
Metals: steel and aluminium
Steel is the most recycled material in Europe, with rates above 80%. Aluminium typically incorporates between 30% and 40% recycled material and reaches recycling rates close to 95% at end-of-life. Both materials are 100% recyclable without loss of properties.
Epoxy coatings
High-durability powder coatings. All coatings are lead-free and comply with EcoVadis certification requirements. They reduce maintenance and extend product lifespan. Suitable for recovery of the metal substrate during recycling processes after removal.
Polypropylenes
Recyclable thermoplastic material. Some product references are made from 100% recycled polypropylene. Lightweight, resistant, and suitable for industrial injection processes. All versions are recyclable at the end of their life cycle.
Upholstery
Fabric selection meets aesthetic, functional, and environmental criteria. We collaborate with European suppliers operating under certified environmental management systems and prioritize fabrics with certifications such as EU Ecolabel. Our textile collections include recycled fibers, natural-origin materials, and treatments that are respectful of human health and the environment.
Foams
In upholstered products, we use flexible polyurethane and viscoelastic foams designed to ensure comfort, ergonomics, and durability. Many of these foams are OEKO-TEX certified, ensuring compliance with strict standards regarding harmful substances and user safety.
Worktops
Surfaces in melamine, HPL, compact phenolic, or wood. We work with European suppliers with certified European origin and, upon request, FSC certification. Materials with high mechanical and chemical resistance, with varying recyclability depending on composition, prioritizing long-life solutions.
Packaging
Cardboard and recyclable packaging materials. Progressive incorporation of recycled materials, such as plastic bags made from 100% recycled plastic. Volume optimization to reduce logistics impact. 100% recyclable and easily separable materials for conventional waste streams.
End of life
The furniture is designed for long-lasting use, ensuring its functionality and beauty for many years.
